Yvonne McClaren
Yvonne is an avid Thru-Hiker, yogi and keen gardener with a wicked sense of humour and a passion for food, wine and cooking.
Yvonne was born and bred in Adelaide, Australia.
Working as an executive in the not-for-profit sector and with a love for travel, Yvonne has lived in Sydney, Melbourne, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and for a few months in Saigon when she was diagnosed with Oropharyngeal Cancer (Tonsil Cancer) in November 2018.
Yvonne went on to have a third of her tongue removed, a tumour, both tonsils, 30 lymph nodes (neck dissection) and 30 chemoradiotherapy sessions.
Yvonne also had a PEG tube for 15 months & ate nothing orally in that time.
She lives with dysphagia.
Yvonne's plan was simple, to eat real food again and create a different food life after head and neck cancer treatment.
Yvonne is a passionate advocate for raising the awareness of the importance of the social impact of eating loss and writes GAG. | eating life, as a way to educate the masses.
