CREATING CLARITY

  • Woman wearing a floral head scarf & sun glasseshiking on a path and eating a cold slice of pork.

    YOU NEED A PLAN STAN

You need to know where you are on your current path, where you want to be and what steps you must undertake to get there.

Your journey is specific to you and you alone.

Sometimes it helps to have someone in your court who's been through the experience, for the record, my plan was to eat real food again. Simple.

  • A female hiker carrying hiking poles on the Camino reflecting on her journey

    CONFIDENCE

Reflect on what you have been through and potential food & other confidence erosion.

Setting intention is about consciously choosing your focus and purpose rather than just going through the motions. You take control of you, where you can, safely.

  • Food and condiments to eat after head and neck cancer treatment laid out.

    PRE PLANNING

Once your intention is clear, it’s time to make it happen. Pre-planning means anticipating challenges and organising the steps that support your intention.

Be prepared to be overwhelmed and overjoyed in equal measures with the experience.

    ACCEPTANCE

Accept the challenges as they are presented. Forewarned is forearmed - accept challenges with gentle awareness.

Stay present, be mindful, and let go of worst-case scenarios.

Give time the time it needs.

    LONG DAYS

A clear intention and solid plan positions you to achieve your goals. Trust your preparation and let your intention guide you.

This is where confidence meets adventure. Celebrate those wins, for me it was with a cold beverage overlooking the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean.

  • NAVIGATIONAL MAP

Roadmap to Oral Eating a 5-module framework (BATT- Back At The Table) guiding tube-fed individuals back to oral eating. It covers dysphagia basics, mindful recovery, kitchen setup, food transition strategies, body care, and long-term success. With practical tools, mindset shifts, and real-life insights. I created this framework to provide guidance for me to eat real food again. Simple.

  • DAILY REALITY

Every day is different. What I can eat today may not be the case next week or next month. The same rule applies to what I can't eat.

My navigational map forms the basis of the workbook for the BATT Framework. Even 6 years out I sometimes need to remind myself of the "wins" and the goal of eating real food again.
